Media plays a vital role in every one's life . Media has been a part of our lives since ages . According to Amarendra Kishore ( 2006 ) , previously , media gave good advices like a true friend . In today's modern society media has become parcel of our life as it contributes a lot . Media is a bridge between the governing bodies and general public . It is a powerful and flexible tool that influences the public to a great extent . Media’s duty is to inform, educate and entertain . Media is voice of the voiceless and  a great force in building the nation . They put their lives in danger like in times of terrorist attacks or natural calamity just to inform us about it. There are various types of media such as television , magazines  and newspapers .

Actually , media can contribute a lot to a society as it is one of the most flourishing industries nowadays . This is because media has audience . Media acts as a medium that helps opinion-changing between people . This is because they have access to people and this gives it a lot of strength . According to the A.C. Nielsen ( 2010 ) the average American watches 3 hours and 46 minutes of TV each day .This strength can be used constructively by educating the people as well . As they educate people , they tend to liberate and empower them at the same time . Other than that , power of the media can transform the whole society especially in the developing countries . The most important use of media is to educate the people about the basic human rights. The dilemma of the developing countries is that people are not fully aware of their basic rights and if they know, they don't know about what to do and where to go. Media should portray the facts. They should not transform the reality . However , media brings more harm .

One of the disadvantages of media is that it contains false images . According to Donia S. Najar ( 2010 ), the main idea of mass media today is to present the audience the perfect idea or look of something . As we flip through the media , we can see a lot of advertisement about various products especially beauty-care products . The problem with false image is that it can decline our self-acceptance . We tend to hate our own body and dream to have our body like the models in the advertisement .  These emotional conflicts repulse us from who we really are . False image can also harm our health . As we are tempted by the advertisement , we tend to try the products out . It may turned out that the product do not work well with us and consequently bring various diseases such as bulimia and anemia .  According to Mark Sweeney ( 2010 ) , television advertisements help increase market . However , false image can bring bad image to the market of other beauty products . This is because , readers might not believe the advertisements anymore . The worse thing is that the media might be affected as well . Therefore , false image affects not only the society but the products and media themselves .

Media wastes our money , time and circulation . According to Kashmira Lad ( 2008 ) , whether we realize or not , media  costs us high amount of money . As for the teenagers , they tend to favor magazines . For instance , teenage girls usually love Cleo . As they love that reading material , they will waste their money buying the magazine monthly using the money they are supposed to buy other beneficial reading materials . This is such a waste of money . According to Emma Wanjiku ( 2010 ) , we are living the world of social media craze . Despite the fun of getting to know new people and releasing tension by sharing stories , we need to be ready to  connect with our audience all the time . This is the disadvantages where it consumed time . The amount of time a person spend in front of their computers replying comments should be moderated because it decreases time spent on more beneficial activities such as reading, playing with friends, and developing hobbies .  Media is also the best example of the Waste of circulation. It is such a waste of circulation when we are paying to send your message to a lot of people who will probably never be in the market to buy from you . As all of us know , in the era of globalization , we encounter many different companies which produced different newspapers and television programs . Due to the many of media products , we cannot pay attention to all and that leads to the waste of circulation . So , it is obvious that media wastes money , time and circulation .

            Another disadvantage of media is that it destructs children’s morality ..  According to Mike ( 2010 ) ,  64 percent agree the news and entertainment media exercise powerful influence over American moral values which is not good . This is because  much of today's television programming is violent.  According to Robert Roten ( 2001 ) , violence has been a part of cinema since ages . Children who view shows in which violence is very realistic, frequently repeated or unpunished, are more likely to imitate what they see.  Children with emotional, behavioral, learning or impulse control problems may be more easily influenced by TV violence . Media also increases the case of sexual abuse . As parents nowadays are very busy dealing with their career life , they are lack of time to take control of their children . Therefore , their children are free to view porn sites . As a result , they will be influenced to try all the actions they seen . Other than that , many movies tend to convey message that life is easy , therefore , we need to live life to the fullest . For instance , the trilogy of High School Musical which is one of teenagers’ favourite teen movies . This will discouraged the children from studying . It is clear that media disrupys children’s morality .

            Media has many advantages but it also has a lot more disadvantages . Media ruins children’s morality . This is due to the spreading of porn sites , violence movies and movies which tell the children that life is easy . Other than that , media is a waste of money , time and circulation . This is because media is somewhat addictive . Media also contains false image . False image harms our health , lower our self-acceptance and decrease the market . Therefore , media has a lot of disadvantages .
